We have a new Stinger in the house

Meet Anna, our new

Head of Marketing & Communication

What made you say yes to Sting?

"I've been a founder myself, and most recently worked on the VC side at Almi Invest, so I've seen the startup journey from different angles. When the opportunity came to bring those perspectives together with my experience in brand, marketing and communication and put that to work for Sting — well, I can say it was a no-brainer."

You've seen a lot of startups describe what they do. What do founders often get wrong?

"One thing I see over and over is founders focusing on communicating what they've built, rather than the problem it solves and the difference it makes for the target group. I did it too as a founder. You're so close to what you've built that the product feels like the obvious story. But the person on the other side is asking: Why should I care? Will this actually help me? And can I trust you? That last one is where the brand comes in."

What gets you out of work mode?

"I'd say padel. Maybe a boring answer, but I've tried solving work problems while playing, and let's just say it wasn't exactly a recipe for success."

Unearth Data

Investors, banks and other financial-sector decision-makers need reliable climate data to assess companies and direct capital. Yet relevant information is scattered across sustainability reports and disclosed inconsistently, making comparison difficult.

Unearth turns open climate data into financial intelligence. Its Garbo AI system, combined with human oversight, processes climate data at scale to deliver transparent, science-aligned data, analytics and scoring. With API access and a focus on carbon-emissions transparency, Unearth helps financial decision-makers assess real climate performance and support the green transition.

"Sting has been a great accelerator for Unearth at a crucial stage in our journey. Having built Klimatkollen into a trusted NGO brand, we’re now translating that expertise into building a European climate data system for banks and financial institutions. This summer has really shown how climate impact is hitting people and businesses hard – and high quality climate data is becoming ever more important in investment and loan decisions. Sting’s support has been especially valuable in preparing for our first investment round this autumn. Thanks Sting for the tools and the confidence to turn our climate expertise into a scalable business!"

Renewbeam

Construction needs strong, load-bearing components, yet much available wood, such as small-dimension timber, hardwood, damaged timber and recycled wood, is
unsuitable for conventional beams. Valuable material is therefore often underused or treated as waste. Valuable wood is therefore often instead used as energy or, in the worst case, left unused. Renewbeam transforms low-value and waste wood into high-performance building components. Its technology compression-moulds chipped wood into slender beams and studs with strong technical performance. By upcycling underused forest
resources, Renewbeam offers a lightweight, low-carbon alternative for more circular,  resource-efficient construction.

"Through Sting, we have gained stronger exposure and credibility in the capital market. In a qualified selection, we were selected as one of the few interesting environmental technology companies Sting wanted to work with. In addition, I would say that the network with lawyers, presentation experts, experts in the capital market and financing has been invaluable to us."

Smartergy

Property owners, industrial sites and EV-charging operators face sudden power peaks that drive up costs and can exceed the capacity available from their grid connection. A battery can cover those peaks. The same battery can also earn revenue by helping balance the electricity grid. But both uses draw on the same stored energy: reserve too much for the site and grid revenue is lost; commit too much to the grid and the battery may not be ready for the site's next peak.

Smartergy's patented ALE-series Edge-EMS connects to existing batteries and inverters, learns each site locally, and continuously optimises battery use. It forecasts electricity consumption, cuts power peaks, and optimises both grid-service revenues and on-site savings with the same battery — while acting as the site's own Balance Responsible Party, so revenue stays with the customer instead of a third-party aggregator.

The system can reduce required battery capacity by up to 50% and extend battery life by up to 40%. And because it's built to meet Europe's NIS2 cybersecurity requirements from day one and runs fully offline, it keeps working even if the internet connection is disrupted or attacked.

"The most inspiring part of Sting has actually been the pressure. Sting has held us to a strict standard — only bring forward what genuinely works, and they don't soften it when something's weak. That's pushed us to go back and re-examine things again, and again, and again. And that repeated scrutiny is exactly what's given us new perspectives on the most efficient, scalable way to actually reach our end customers."

- Niclas Jarhäll from Smartergy
